Mindful Health: Listening to My Body and Removing Toxicity

In my 20s, I thought I was invincible. I worked long hours, ate whatever was convenient, and didn’t pay much attention to my physical health—or to the people around me. I ignored the importance of surrounding myself with positivity, tolerating toxic relationships and unhealthy environments.

By my 30s, the consequences of this neglect became evident. Stress, poor eating habits, and lack of exercise caught up with me physically, while the mental drain of holding on to toxic people and things took its toll. Additionally, navigating polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and hypothyroidism has had a significant impact on my well-being.

If I could do it over again, I’d focus on mindful health from day one—making exercise a priority, fueling my body with nutritious food, and learning to recognize and remove toxic relationships and situations. It’s not just about looking or feeling good; it’s about setting yourself up for long-term wellness in all aspects of life—mind, body, and environment.

The Shift Toward Mindful Health

In my journey toward mindful health, I actively prioritize balance in all areas of my life. This shift involves replacing negative influences with supportive relationships and consciously choosing clean, non-toxic products for my home and self-care routine. The transformation has led to significant improvements in my physical and mental well-being.

  1. Prioritizing Physical Health:
To maintain my physical health, I’ve integrated regular exercise into my routine. Engaging in activities I enjoy—whether it’s walking, yoga, or weightlifting—has transformed my relationship with exercise from a chore to a source of joy.

  2. Nutrition and Healthy Eating:
In terms of nutrition, I’ve made a concerted effort to fuel my body with wholesome foods. Meal planning and prepping have been game-changers, helping me avoid the temptation of convenience foods.

  3. Removing Toxic Relationships:
One of the most significant shifts I’ve made is in my relationships. I’ve learned to recognize those who drain my energy and bring negativity into my life. By surrounding myself with positive influences and supportive friends, I’ve created a healthier emotional landscape.

  4. Creating a Healthier Living Space:
Beyond personal relationships, I’ve focused on creating a healthier living space. I choose non-toxic products that contribute to a cleaner environment, enhancing my overall well-being.

  5. Cultivating a Self-Care Routine:
An essential aspect of my mindful health journey is developing a self-care routine that nurtures both body and mind. This includes practices such as meditation, journaling, and indulging in restorative activities that promote relaxation and self-reflection. Prioritizing self-care has helped me recharge and maintain a positive outlook.

By embracing mindful health and making conscious choices, I am on a journey toward a more balanced and fulfilling life. In future blog posts, I will discuss specific categories that have supported my journey, including fitness products, self-care items, cleaning products, and insightful books on health and wellness.
